Questions & Answers from other people about Aerosmith Vinyl Records

I am looking to sell some of my used vinyl records. I have about 40 and have found a store that will pay me .50-$1 for each. I have heard that they are worth more (there are some really great records ie: Aerosmith, The Who, The Doors ect.). The covers condition aren't perfect but the records themselves look good. Is that a fair price or should I try to get more for them?

I bought a record player last week just for the nostalgia effect, and it was cheap. I grew up in the CD age, so the only thing I can play is my parents' old LPs, like Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and all that. Anyways, in listening to them, I feel like vinyl sounds better than CDs. I told my friends this, and they are like "That's impossible, CDs are digital"...but I can swear I hear a difference, and the vinyl sounds better. Does anyone know which of the two are a better medium? And I'm kinda sneaking in a double question here, but how long does an average stylus last?

I was digging through my vinyl a couple weeks ago and stumbled on an album I had forgotten all about. The band was "Masters Of The Airwaves", and they released one album back in 1974 on Columbia/Epic Records. I thought I'd throw a video together featuring two songs from that LP, and upload it to Youtube. During the mid 70's, these guys shared the stage with the likes of Journey, Kansas, and Aerosmith, to name a few. Their sound was sort of unique in a way...as many of their songs featured some really cool 16 string steel guitar playing. The album varies in style throughout... The first song "Back In '51" is a rocker with some obvious Led Zeppelin influences. The second song "In It For The Thrill" is a cool rocker, with some bluesy countrified elements, that later evolves into something reminiscent Derek and the Dominos, Led Zeppelin, and even Uriah Heep (Demons & Wizards/Magicians Birthday era), with a few of the 16 string steel guitar passages supplied by Jimmy Berick. Not much is known about these guys...and you'll be hard pressed to find a whole lot on the internet. I guess their only claim to fame is in that of their bassist Randy Rand, who turned up about 10 years later playing with the 80's band "Autograph". So...what do you think of these guys? Here's my video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej-IWPVEibo&feature=player_embedded+18=fmt

What happened to going to a friends house after school and checking out his or his older brother's record collection. Sitting in front of the record player listening to Aerosmith while checking out the album covers. Checking out the marketing gimmicks on some of the album covers like opening the windows on Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti, or the flimsy vinyl used on "The Worst Of Jefferson Airplane." In the past album covers were art. Also, the sound quality on albums wwasn't perfect, with the random pops and static sounds but that gave it a special nuance. Now we live in the world of perfect sounding music played on a personal player for 1 person to listen to.Instead of a group of people listening to music together and asking what they think of the band or song, now you just hand your earphones off to your friend while he/she listens to the song. Instead of album covers you can hold in your hand, youre either looking at them on a computer screen or squinting to see it on an ipod screen. With music alot more accessible today, gone is the excitement of running home to listen to the new album you bought, gone are the independent record stores with all the band posters hanging on the wwalls smelling like incense, flipping through albums with your friends, Now you can listen to music anywhere and if you need some new songs you just log on to your computer and download it. So my question is, do you think technology made music more impersonal ?

I keep asking questions that do NOT violate any of the policies/rules here and they keep getting forcibly removed and I don't understand why. One question I asked was "Is there an inexpensive option for a record player/CD burner combo?" - I was simply trying to get advice on an electronics item I wanted to buy - and the question was removed! Another question I asked was "Does the Aerosmith song "Once is Enough" appear anywhere onther than on the "Dude Looks Like a Lady" single?" - I simply asked because I have a 12" vinyl single with this song on it but I was hoping there was a CD I could buy that has the song as well. I don't understand...
